In case you don't know, Candyland is a very cute, colourful boardgame loved mostly by little children. The reason I picked it was because I just felt like doing something cute and colourful. Maybe it's all the Halloween stuff I've been doing.
This was an ambitious undertaking, but in the end, I love it.
Sorry. I am allowed to be excited though. This took a stupid amount of time. Hours. I did the gradient background yesterday and then the painting today. I must have spent a good 4 or more hours on it today.
Here's the inspiration picture, in all its delicious, happy, colourful glory. This may be sickeningly sweet for some people, but it just puts a smile on my face!
I started with two coats of China Glaze White On White and then did a green to blue gradient with a crazy mixture of China Glaze I'm With The Lifeguard, Essie Pretty Edgy, Nfu Oh Jelly Syrups in JS33 and JS34, and China Glaze Bahamian Escape.
The imagery was painted using acrylic paints, tiny brushes and dotting tools. And lots of layers. When I was done painting I added some sparkle to the sky and mountain tops with Nubar Dewdrop, which is a tiny sparkly opalescent glitter. I sealed it all with a coat of Seche Vite and then went to find enough light to take pictures (at night). The kitchen light is pretty good.
Interesting fact: During my research I discovered that a movie based on Candyland is in the works. Ooh!
Hope you enjoyed your little trip to Candyland! Are any of you ladies gamers, or am I all alone?
